My story

For a long time, I thought I simply hadn't found my place in the world.

At school I was told I was capable of anything, but instead of giving me direction, it left me standing at a crossroads. I wandered from one path to another, trying life as a nursery nurse, a baker, even an accountant (which, for someone who dislikes maths, was an interesting choice). None of them quite felt like home. All the while, I dreamt of becoming a photographer, but convinced myself I wasn't talented enough, outgoing enough or brave enough to make it happen.

Years later I discovered that this kind of wandering is incredibly common for women with ADHD. Suddenly, those winding paths made a little more sense.

Everything changed when I became a mother. My first son gave me the courage to finally chase the dream I'd been carrying for years. But starting a photography business was one thing, knowing how to grow it was another. I spent years trying everything, hoping something would stick, but I wasn't getting very far.

Then lockdown arrived.

and miles to go
before I sleep.

With unexpected time on my hands, I took a leap of faith and invested in a marketing course I could barely afford. It turned out to be the turning point I never saw coming. I fell in love with marketing, discovering not only how to grow a business but how to build one in a way that felt creative, intentional and true to me.

Six years later, I've built a business I genuinely love. I've had the privilege of helping incredible women bring their dreams to life, and I've shown my own two boys that it's possible to build something meaningful from the ground up.

Now, through Girl Moss, I help other women do the same. Whether through personal branding photography, marketing or community, my hope is to make the path feel a little less daunting and remind you that you don't have to walk it alone.

Defining Success

Make sure that you are clear on what success means to you. In a world where we're told to hustle, to get to those holy grail six figures, ask yourself if that's really what you're searching for? Because if you're chasing someone else's idea of success, you're destined to fail.

Make it Reality from Day One

If you're dreaming of turning your passion into a thriving business which supports you, you need to act as though it already does. It's partly an act of manifestation but also a practical exercise. Carve out time in your daily life to dedicate to making this grow, protect that time as much as you would for any other paid job.

Slow Growth is Beautiful

Going 'viral' may seem alluring, but all that glitters is not gold. Slow growth gives you time to find what works for you, build the systems that support you. It's much more sustainable. And longevity is far more appealing than soaring into burnout.

It's Better Together

For all the blessings self employment brings it has its shadowy parts too. For me, it was the loneliness. But gradually I built my network of self employed women and my life is now full of shoulders to lean on, ears to bend and endless creative collaboration. I am not articulate enough to put into words the importance of having your own village.

Whether you're looking for a personal branding photographer in Brecon, support with your marketing, or simply someone to help you find your footing, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you. Together, we'll uncover the story at the heart of your business, find a way of showing up that feels authentic to you, and build something that grows steadily, sustainably and with purpose. After all, the best adventures are rarely walked alone.
